In a disturbing revelation, adolescent girls in Victoria may be referred for double mastectomies by the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH), Melbourne.
This controversial practice, aimed at helping gender-confused girls appear as boys by cutting off their healthy breasts, was uncovered after Victorian Health Minister Mary-Anne Thomas initially told Parliament it did not happen.
In December 2023, Thomas said:
“The Royal Children’s Hospital DOES NOT provide or refer children to surgical treatment.” (Emphasis the Minister’s)
However, in a written response in July to a follow-up question on notice from the expelled Liberal Upper House MP Moira Deeming, Thomas changed her tune.
“In line with the Australian Standards of Care and Treatment Guidelines for Transgender and Gender Diverse Children and Adolescents and World Professional Association for Transgender Health Treatment Guidelines, Standards of Care, where clinical need is determined, RCH clinicians may refer adolescents to a private specialist clinician to consider the appropriateness of the program and need for surgery.”
Ignored by mainstream media, this news was broken by Bernard Lane, a former journalist at The Australian who now writes at his Substack blog Gender Clinic News.
Lyle Shelton, in a recent ADH TV interview with Lane, the editor of Gender Clinic News, highlighted the minister's initial denial, where Thomas had assured the Victorian Parliament that no such referrals were occurring.
Family First National Director and ADH TV host Lyle Shelton interviewed Lane earlier this month, with Lane emphasizing that "mainstream Australians would recoil with horror and disbelief" upon learning that such surgeries are being conducted on minors.
Child gender clinics in Australia continue to follow the discredited guidelines of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), which doesn’t believe in age limits for starting children on harmful puberty blockers and providing irreversible surgery.
As Lane explained, WPATH has been revealed to have engaged in "scientific misconduct," yet Australian child gender clinics still rely on its guidelines.
This is despite the fact that countries like the UK, Sweden, and Finland have moved away from these harmful practices following comprehensive reviews like the UK’s Cass Report, which led to the closure of the Tavistock child gender clinic in London.
Shelton and Lane discussed how this growing medical scandal is being ignored by Australia's political leaders whilst what is euphemistically known as “gender affirming care” continues to be promoted by the powerful but small LGBTIQA+ political lobby group Equality Australia.
"The risks and harms are obvious," Lane told ADH TV, and there is little to no follow-up to assess the long-term outcomes of these procedures.
Family First has long warned about the dangers of this ideology and the harm it causes to children, women, and families.
The revelation about adolescent girls being referred for double mastectomies by the RCH is just the latest evidence of how far this agenda has penetrated Australian institutions.
It is time for action. Family First will continue to fight for the protection of children from these harmful practices and calls for the immediate closure of child gender clinics across the country and the banning of the chemical and surgical treatment of children.
If Opposition Leader Peter Dutton and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese truly believe in protecting children, they must stop bowing to LGBTIQA+ political activist pressure.
