Family First supports Peter Dutton’s declaration that he will stand in front of only the Australian flag.

The practice of Anthony Albanese and his ministers of standing in front of two other flags at all official events and media conferences confuses our national identity.

Since becoming a nation, Australia has always comprised indigenous people and migrants.

There’s nothing wrong with pride in ancestry but everyone should be proud of the nation and put it first.

Our chambers of parliament and public buildings should certainly only fly the national flag.

Sadly, the indigenous and the Torres Straight Island flags are used by activists to de-legitimise Australia and its founding.

While no nation has an unblemished past, Australia included, Australia has more to be proud of than most in how it has worked to correct injustices of the past and build arguably the most desirable nation in which to live on earth.

Young people should be taught to love our nation and symbols like the flag are key to this.
