UK nurse suspended for stating biological reality — this must not happen here
A Christian nurse in the UK has been suspended for calling a biological male “Mr”.
To compound the injustice, the male, who identifies as a woman, is a convicted paedophile who had hurled vile racial abuse at the nurse who is black.
Jennifer Melle was disciplined and escorted from her hospital after stating what is biologically and morally true: that a man is not a woman, regardless of how he identifies.
She now faces investigation for a so-called “breach” of patient confidentiality — not for what she did wrong, but for refusing to deny her faith and reality.
“I am expected to tolerate racism, deny biological reality and suppress my deeply held Christian beliefs,” she said.
It’s hard to imagine a more chilling summary of what passes for “inclusivity” in the West today.
The NHS sided with an abusive criminal over a frontline nurse because she upheld truth and conscience.
And Jennifer Melle is not alone. Across the Western world, radical gender ideology is being enforced with authoritarian cruelty.
It punishes Christians, silences truth, and empowers predators.
Family First is deeply concerned by this injustice. What happened to Jennifer Melle is not just a tragedy for her — it is a warning for Australia.
The major parties here are on the same page when it comes to enforcing radical gender fluid ideology.
Even the Liberals and Nationals will not commit to changing Australia’s farcical Sex Discrimination Act which says that a woman can have a penis.
They have refused to stand up for girls' and women's spaces and key Liberals like Senator Dave Sharma have threatened to cross the floor to vote with the Labor and the Greens to trash parents’ rights to educate their kids free of LGBTIQA+ ideology.
That’s why Family First is fielding 100 candidates at the upcoming federal election. We are standing to defend freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the right to speak biological truth without fear of punishment.
This kind of ideological tyranny must never be allowed to take root in Australia. We stand with Jennifer.
We stand for truth. And we will fight to ensure Australians can live according to conscience, not compulsion.
Let’s send a message this election: enough is enough.
Vote 1 Family First.
Billboard Chris does what Albo and Dutts won’t – fights for our free speech
If Peter Dutton wanted to win the election, he’d weigh in on the side of Canadian dad Chris Elston who is this week fighting for your and my freedom of speech in a Melbourne court room.
Elston, aka Billboard Chris, is challenging the Government’s ‘eSafety’ Commissioner for censoring his 2024 post on X that rightly called out a woman claiming to be a man.
Sadly, Dutton is unlikely to support Elston because he wants to steer clear of “culture wars”.
But how else can free speech be defended if not by political leaders acting with courage?
Instead, Dutton goes into this election on a unity ticket with Labor, the Greens and the Teals supporting the Sex Discrimination Act which says a woman can have a penis.
On behalf of Dutton and the Coalition, Senator Dave Sharma vowed not to change the SDA, even though it means girls and women’s sports is made unfair and their spaces unsafe.
Neither Dutton nor anyone in the Coalition has repudiated Sharma, despite the promise being made on national television.
So it is left to the courageous Billboard Chris to fight alone in the Administrative Review Tribunal about why it is farcical for an Australian woman to be allowed to identify as a man and then help write World Health Organisation guidelines designed to confuse children.
The woman in question is not any woman.
Teddy Cook (pronouns he/him) is a prominent transgender activist and is on the governing body of Equality Australia, the main LGBTIQA+ political lobby group fighting for the rights of child gender clinics to be allowed to continue to sterilise and mutilate the bodies of children in their futile quest to change their gender.
Equality Australia has also spearheaded the campaign to destroy religious schools in Australia by forcing them to hire staff who do not share parents’ values on marriage and gender.
The Alliance Defending Freedom, a US-based law firm is working with Australia’s Human Rights Law Alliance to defend Chris.
The ADF’s blog reported on the case:
In February 2024, Canadian internet sensation and children’s safety campaigner “Billboard Chris” (Chris Elston), took to U.S. social media platform “X” to share the article, adding the comment:
“This woman (yes, she’s female) is part of a panel of 20 ‘experts’ hired by the @WHO to draft their policy on caring for ‘trans people.”
“People who belong in psychiatric wards are writing the guidelines for people who belong in psychiatric wards.”
In his evidence this week, Elston told the Tribunal that while the first sentence of the tweet was a specific comment to the Daily Mail’s story on Teddy Cook, his second sentence was intended more broadly, to make a political comment about the ideological bias present amongst those in positions of power and influence when it comes to writing gender policy around the world.
Speaking on the witness stand, Elston added:
“It’s damaging to teach children they are born in the wrong body…children are beautiful just as they are. No drugs or scalpels needed.”
Asked further about why he chose to post on this matter, Elston explained: “Because the World Health Organisation has global influence. We should have evidence-based care.”
Under cross-examination, Elston responded, “My goal is not to provoke outrage. My goal is to simply try to educate people, and encourage discussion. I want everyone to think for themselves.”
Freedom of political communication is protected as an implied right under the Australian Constitution.
It has been previously reported that Teddy Cook has had both breasts surgically removed, dresses in kink and advocates for bestiality.
Family First thanks Chris Elston for doing what Labor and Liberal won’t – fight for our free speech so children can be protected from harm and girls and women be given a fair go.
At this election, vote 1 Family First.
What’s really behind Victoria’s “hate speech” laws
Free speech in Australia was already on life support before Victoria’s so-called “hate speech” laws passed this week.
Deeply flawed anti-discrimination laws, which also exist in other states, now have the frightening overlay of criminal sanctions in Victoria.
That potentially means jail simply for speaking the truth about gender or marriage.
The Australian Christian Lobby’s Victorian director Jasmine Yuen summed it up well when she said she feared the “subjective and undefined terminology” used in the Bill could see Victorians hauled in front of the courts for expressing contentious views, such as stating that “trans women are not women”.
Australia’s anti-discrimination laws are already “subjective and undefined” – one only has to read the judgement of Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal Member Jeremy Gordon in the case brought against me by two LGBTIQA+ drag queens to know that.
Lowering the bar further is legally reckless for a society that venerates its ANZACs for fighting and dying for our freedoms.
Victoria has form in using the threat of jail against its citizens so that the wishes of radical LGBTIQA+ activists can be carried out.
Even the hapless Victorian Liberals support jailing parents for up to ten years if they try and stop their child from being injected with sterilising puberty blockers, taking their support for the so called “anti-conversion” laws to the 2022 election.
Thankfully the Liberals belatedly saw sense and did not repeat this mistake, opposing this week’s “hate speech” laws.
But it wasn’t enough to stop Labor and the Greens ramming it through.
One of the big changes this week was the insertion of the word “likely” into the law.
To go to jail, intent or some objective “reasonable persons” test, is no defence.
If what a citizen does is “likely” to incite contempt, revulsion or severe ridicule against a minority group, you can be dragged before the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and ultimately sent to jail.
If this test was applied to the case brought against me by the two Queensland drag queens who are suing me for saying they are dangerous role models for children (which they are), I could be in even more trouble than I currently am.
Australia’s regime of flawed anti-discrimination/anti-vilification laws have much in common and Victorian and NSW cases have been cited the two trials I have been through.
Having sat through around 10 days of court room legal arguments and read hundreds of pages of submissions against me over the past five years, it is clear to me this week’s Victorian laws have been constructed to ensure people like me can never get away with exercising freedom of speech when calling out the nefarious agenda of the LGBTIQA+ political movement.
Victoria has even made “drag queens” a protected attribute in the legislation.
Is this so people like me can never again criticise the gender-fluid and “camp culture” indoctrination agenda of children that even the expert witnesses in my case admit is behind DQST?
The public rationale for beefing up federal and state “hate speech” laws was the antisemitism crisis.
The LGBTIQA+ political lobby cleverly used it to smuggle in chilling advances to their agenda to completely snuff out free speech.
They are totalitarians and for a large part of their journey the Liberals supported this. Thankfully they woke up this week, but it was too late.
Family First plans to contest next year’s Victorian election.
Just as we are fighting at the current federal election for free speech and freedom of religion, our efforts will be redoubled in the state campaign.
Family First Senators, if elected, will fight for a Commonwealth override of state-based anti-free speech "hate speech" laws. Family First has already announced it will abolish state and federal human rights commissions which are activated by these laws.
Fighting to repeal anti-free speech and anti-family laws constructed by LGBTIQA+ political activists with the help of politicians will continue to be top of Family First’s agenda.
Dear Albo and Dutts: lead like Trump
The big question arising from Donald Trump’s electrifying address to Congress today is why don’t our leaders have his courage?
Whatever one’s view of Trump the man, the narcissist etc - 90 per cent of what he said is common sense.
How hard is it to get biological males out of girls’ and women’s sports?
Fix the cost-of-living crisis by “drill, baby drilling” and getting out of the Paris climate accords?
Even former Prime Minister Tony Abbot says Australia should do what Trump is doing and declare an “energy emergency”.
Ban child gender transition?
Trump’s not afraid to take on the noisy LGBTQI+ lobby but Peter Dutton is petrified of them.
Restore freedom of speech?
Trump has banished cancel culture – the sort that has Family First National Director Lyle Shelton embroiled in a five-year legal battle against two drag queens who have weaponised the law in the service of their hurt feelings.
“We are getting wokeness out of our schools, out of our military,” Trump said.
“Wokeness is trouble, we don’t want it.”
Hear, hear!
Sadly, both Peter Dutton and Anthony Albanese are wedded to woke.
They are too scared to touch any of what Trump talked of today.
They are both going into this election pledged to net zero and forcing us to pay the Paris premium on our electricity.
Both refuse to change the Sex Discrimination Act to restore the definition of woman, leaving girls and women unsafe in their private spaces and sports.
For casual observers of politics, Trump’s war on woke might seem new.
But he’s simply implementing long-standing Family First policy.
Many of us thought the radical left was so ascendent that we may not see the tables turned in our life time.
But here we are on the right side of history.
Trump’s list of wasteful spending on US AID was comical.
“$8 million to promote LGBTQI+ in the African nation of Lesotho, which nobody has ever heard of,” Trump said about the landlocked 2-million-person country surrounded by South Africa.
“$8 million for making mice transgender — this is real,” Trump read.
“$1.5 billion for voter confidence in Liberia … $59 million for illegal alien hotel rooms in New York City … $14 million for improving public procurement in Serbia.”
The list went on.
Imagine what would be found if a Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) set up shop in Canberra.
Trump chronicled the end of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) programs and the teaching of critical race theory, which teaches children to hate America.
The woke mind virus, to use the phrase Elon Musk coined, has infected Australia equally.
Leadership in America is turning the tables on the radical left.
The Democrats sat indignantly. One held at sign saying “this is not normal”.
Weird from the same people who think taxpayers’ money should be spent on making mice transgender.
Democrat women wore pink in protest of Trump’ supposedly anti-women policies.
But 24 hours earlier they voted against getting males out of girls’ and women’s sports.
Nancy Pelosi looked like she was sucking on lemons.
Dutts and Albo are yet to get the message.
If you want common sense for Australia, vote 1 Family First.
Australia’s gender debate gets dumb and dumber
Both Labor’s Mark Butler and Opposition Leader Peter Dutton showed how out of touch they are on Australia’s red-hot gender debate this week.
While Donald Trump gets on with getting males out of girls’ sports and de-funding the child gender clinics, our politicians can’t work out whether they are Arthur or Martha.
Butler, who is Anthony Albanese’s Health Minister, was asked about biological males playing in girls and women’s sports.
“This is not an issue in Australia,” he foolishly said.
Kirralie Smith of the women’s and girl’s rights advocacy group Binary was in court last Friday fighting an Apprehended Violence Order brought against her by a male soccer player who identifies as a woman and plays in a women’s team.
Butler is a fool.
Sadly Peter Dutton, whom conservatives hoped would be conservative, inexplicably said yesterday that any inquiry into the harm of children through LGBTIQA+ child gender bending clinics was a “conscience vote” for his MPs.
Family First’s message to Mr Dutton is that it should not be a conscience vote to read the riot act to LGBTIQA+ gender clinics injecting children with puberty blockers without parental consent.
Family First to cut grants to councils which promote drag to kids
Family First says LGBTIQA+ drag queens are not for kids and has pledged to de-fund councils who promote them to children.
Recent events, such as the "Drag Life Drawing Out West" held at Altona Beach by the Hobson’s Bay City Council on February 1, 2025, have raised concerns among parents and community members.
If elected, Family First’s Senate team will fight to withdraw Commonwealth grants from local councils that allocate public funds to promote LGBTIQA+ drag queen events.
This is to protect children from exposure to gender-fluid and sexualised role models, which are inappropriate, especially in public spaces such as beaches.
Our children deserve to be nurtured in environments that respect their innocence and promote clear, consistent values.
Using public money to fund events that blur these lines is irresponsible.
If elected, Family First will ensure that councils prioritising such activities will no longer receive Commonwealth grants.
Family First believes that such events, even when labelled as ‘family-friendly’, introduce children to harmful concepts of gender fluidity and expose them to sexualised role models.
The party asserts that public funds should not be used to support activities that may confuse or mislead children, which is clearly the intent of the LGBTIQA+ activists who have lobbied local councils such as the Hobson’s Bay.
The same policy would apply to councils who hold drag queen story time events in local libraries.
Lyle Shelton, who is also National Director of Family First, has previously highlighted the potential harms of exposing children to drag queen performances.
In an on-going landmark legal case, Shelton is defending his stance against drag queen story time events in council libraries, emphasising the need to protect children from early sexualisation and indoctrination into harmful gender-fluid concepts.
Family First urges local councils to cut any public funds allocated towards events featuring drag queens and to focus instead on initiatives that uphold mainstream family values and protect the well-being of children.
Trump bans taxpayer funding for children’s sex change operations
Whatever you think of Donald Trump, his actions in his first seven days in office to protect children from radical LGBTIQA+ gender ideology must be applauded.
An Executive Order issued last night cuts off taxpayer funding for sex change operations on children.
Family First has been highlighting this issue in Australia for years, with establishment political leaders either ignoring the harm or supporting it.
Trump’s Executive Order states:
“Across the country today, medical professionals are maiming and sterilising a growing number of impressionable children under the radical and false claim that adults can change a child’s sex through a series of irreversible medical interventions,” the order says.
“This dangerous trend will be a stain on our Nation’s history, and it must end.”
The order says children will “regret that they have been mutilated and begin to grasp the horrifying tragedy that they will never be able to conceive children of their own or nurture their children through breastfeeding.”
“Accordingly, it is the policy of the United States that it will not fund, sponsor, promote, assist, or support the so-called ‘transition’ of a child from one sex to another…and it (the government) will rigorously enforce all laws that prohibit or limit these destructive and life-altering procedures.”
Family First is fighting for laws which ban sex change operations for minors, something which is Labor policy.
Similarly, Peter Dutton said last week he will do nothing to restore to Australia’s public policy the truth that there are only two genders, leaving girls, women and children vulnerable.
Read the executive order from the White House.
