Family First Announces Geneviève Gilbert as Prahran by-election candidate

Family First has announced Geneviève Gilbert as the party’s candidate for the upcoming Prahran by-election on February 8.
As founder and Executive Director of Pink Cross Foundation Australia, Geneviève brings valuable experience in social advocacy and a strong commitment to family values.
With degrees in Mental Health, Visual Arts, Communication, and Multimedia, she has built a career supporting people affected by commercial sexual exploitation, deepening her understanding of societal challenges and the importance of strong families.
Ms Gilbert said Family First would prioritise addressing the cost-of-living crisis, supporting families, protecting faith-based schools, and advocating for the definition of a woman to be in line with biology.
“The Greens are failing to meet the needs of Prahran families, with skyrocketing living costs affecting everyone,” Ms. Gilbert said.
“This is directly tied to the Greens’, Liberals’, and Labor’s net-zero policies, which continue to drive up electricity prices.”
Ms Gilbert also highlighted Family First’s commitment to ensuring parents retain the freedom to educate their children in alignment with their values.
“Faith-based schools are under unprecedented attack for their hiring policies, and we stand firmly in their defence,” she said.
Family First has long championed the family unit with a married mother and father and opposes the promotion of gender fluidity ideology to children, pushed by the Greens and major parties.
“Strong families are the foundation of a vibrant and thriving society,” Ms. Gilbert emphasised.
Bernie Finn, Family First’s Lead Senate Federal Candidate and former Liberal MP, praised Ms Gilbert’s candidacy.

Family First welcomes the return of commonsense to America under President Donald Trump and will continue its fight for Australia to follow suit at the up-coming federal election.
Trump’s declaration in his second inaugural address today that “as of this day it will be the policy of the United States Government that there are only two genders” is a win for the safety of girls and women, Family First National Director Lyle Shelton said.
“How hard is it?” Mr Shelton asked.
“We have been calling for this for years yet Australian political leaders remained captured by Woke political correctness.
“Family First’s Senate candidates will not rest until Australia adopts the same policy.
“But it shouldn’t take pressure from a minor party for Liberal, Labor, Teals and Green to wake up to the commonsense of human biology and repudiate the crazy demands of LGBTIQA+ political activists.”
Mr Shelton said the same applied to the Paris Climate Accord with Trump today signing an executive order to leave what he described as a “rip off”.
Vice-President JD Vance said exiting Paris would save US taxpayers $1 trillion.
Mr Shelton said Australians struggling with our own home-grown cost-of-living crisis brought on in large part by Liberal and Labor Governments pursuing the Paris agenda should also be given relief which would come by withdrawing from the accord.
“The idea that so-called renewables provide cheaper and reliable electricity and save the planet is completely discredited,” Mr Shelton said.
“All we are doing by being in Paris is punishing working families.”
Family First has long called for commonsense on gender and net zero, but it has taken the re-election of Donald Trump to be a first mover.
Mr Shelton also noted Donald Trump would restore freedom of speech and religion.
“The new White House has adopted Family First’s key campaign objectives for the up-coming Australian federal election – cut power prices, protect parental rights to educate their kids and protect women and children from gender ideology.”
Mr Shelton noted that President Trump has also vowed to protect girls’ and women’s sports, get radical gender ideology and critical race theory out of schools.
“Family First is also campaigning for this and notes that the Liberal, Labor, Teal and Green political establishment are largely on a unity ticket on gender and Paris.”
Stopping antisemitic domestic terrorism starts with backing Israel

The best way to stop the escalating pro-Hamas Islamist terrorist attacks on Australia’s Jewish community is for the Albanese Government to apologise for its anti-Israel stance and urgently change tack.
Family First National Director and New South Wales lead Senate candidate Lyle Shelton said the Government needed to turn around its position and begin to lead the nation in unequivocal support for the survival of the only democracy in the Middle East.
He also called for the suspects of bombings on Jewish property to be treated as terrorists under the law so their rights to legal representation could be restricted if authorities deemed it necessary.
“The Albanese Government has bought into the lie that Israel’s war against Hamas is unjust when the nation has no alternative to defend itself from those who only want a one-state solution and to kill Jews ‘from the river to the sea’,” Mr Shelton said.
“Israel was attacked on October 7 by a barbaric Islamic death cult that is not only anti-Israel but anti-Western civilisation.
“The Albanese Government needs to realise that Israel is fighting a war on behalf of all of us and that it is in Australia’s interest to back Israel.
“Proof of this is the firebombing of a Jewish Synagogue in Melbourne, the home of a Jewish leader in Sydney, and now a Jewish childcare centre in Sydney.
“These horrific bombings and the continued attacks on Jewish businesses has Australia in the grip of its own Krystal Nacht, egged on by the Government’s anti-Israel stance.
“If anyone thinks these acts of home-grown Islamist terrorism will stop with attacks on Australian Jews, they are kidding themselves.
“Stopping Hamas supporters in Australia starts with helping Israel stop Hamas in Gaza, not by constantly undermining Israel’s prosecution of what is a terrible but just war.
“Anyone in western Sydney who thinks Hamas are the good guys should take a close look at the way uniformed gunmen and Gazans terrorised the already traumatised young women hostages as they were transferred to the Red Cross this week.
“People in western Sydney celebrating this and the release of terrorists from Israeli jails in exchange for innocent hostages are a million miles from the values which define Australians,” Mr Shelton said.
“The Albanese Government needs to make this clear so that all Australians are on the same page.
“Domestic terrorism will only end with the Government ending is equivocation on Israel’s war against Hamas.”
