The jig is up for Australia’s child gender clinics as UK bans puberty blockers

Posted on News by Lyle Shelton · December 12, 2024 3:31 PM

The United Kingdom has taken a bold and necessary step to protect children by indefinitely banning puberty blockers for children.

British Health Secretary Wes Streeting made it clear that these drugs pose "an unacceptable safety risk," acting on the advice of medical experts and the overwhelming evidence of harm.

Australia's politicians must now face the facts: this is a massive medical scandal, and it's time for them to do their job.

The Cass Review in the UK exposed the shaky foundations of prescribing puberty blockers to children, highlighting a lack of evidence for their safety and effectiveness.

In her review, Dr Hilary Cass stated that these drugs could irreversibly alter psychosexual and gender identity development.

The review also led to the closure of the Tavistock Clinic, a sobering reminder of the dangers of ideology-driven medicine.

Yet, in Australia, clinics like those led by Dr Michelle Telfer in Melbourne and Dr Stephen Stathis in Brisbane continue to prescribe cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers to children as young as 14.

The Victorian Health Minister has even admitted that the Melbourne clinic refers girls under 18 to private clinics to have their breasts cut off so they can attempt to be boys.

This is despite international experts pointing out that Australia's guidelines on so-called gender-affirming care lack independence and fail to screen for critical underlying issues, such as autism or body image problems.

The jig is up. To these leaders of Australia’s child gender clinics and their LGBTIQA+ political allies pushing radical gender ideology: stop destroying the lives of vulnerable children.

Puberty blockers are not the harmless pause button they are often portrayed to be.

They have been linked to reduced bone density, mood swings, fertility issues, and irreversible changes in sexual development.

As Streeting rightly stated, prescribing these drugs without rigorous safeguards is "a scandal."

The Family First Party calls on Australian politicians to act decisively. Shut down these clinics and open an independent investigation into how such harmful practices were allowed to proliferate.

The safety of children must come first. Australia's political and medical class has presided over a devastating scandal, and accountability is long overdue.

If a woke UK Labour government can prioritise the safety of children and reject the emotional blackmail of activists, so can Australia.

Weak and woke politics must no longer stand in the way of protecting our children. Family First demands action.

Shut the clinics down, investigate the scandal, and ensure this chapter in medical history is never repeated.

Action: Join the fight for protecting children from the gender whisperers, join the Family First party today.
