The ABC’s depiction of women is obscene and degrading, another reason it should be defunded

WARNING: DISTASTEFUL ABC LANGUAGUE

The $1.3 billion per year taxpayer-funded ABC should be defunded after its ABC Queer Instagram channel published an obscene and degrading description of women while promoting Brisbane’s taxpayer-funded Melt Festival.

The ABC post features a biological woman who has transitioned to a man, Daniel Bruschwiler, accompanied by the grotesque slogan: “Embrace your bonus hole.”

To make matters worse, Bruschwiler is wearing a shirt with images of the popular children’s character Humphrey B Bear.

What sort of message is the ABC and Melt Festival trying to send to children?

No taxpayer-funded broadcaster should ever endorse material that objectifies women, erases biological reality, and pushes obscene gender ideology under the guise of “inclusion”.

The national broadcaster has crossed a line. To use an obscene, dehumanising euphemism for a woman’s body — and to package it as progressive — shows a taxpayer-funded institution that has lost all moral and cultural bearings. Enough is enough. The ABC should be defunded.

The controversy also exposes the failure of the Queensland Liberal National Party (LNP) and Brisbane City Council to provide any cultural leadership. Both levels of Conservative-branded government currently fund or promote the Melt Festival, despite it becoming a platform for radical LGBTIQA+ activists who demean women.

Recent public statements from LNP Minister Andrew Powell and Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner amounted to enthusiastic endorsement of a festival now associated with material the majority of parents would find offensive.

Tourism Minister Andrew Powell recently declared:

“The Queensland Government is proud to support Melt through Tourism and Events Queensland.”

Lord Mayor Schrinner also praised the festival:

“Melt is an amazing celebration of our LGBTQIA-plus community… with a program full of world-renowned acts and local talent.”

These endorsements now sit uncomfortably beside the ABC’s “bonus hole” promotion.

How can the LNP posture as a party for families while funding an event that promotes obscene descriptions of women to children and the public?

This is not mainstream. This is not inclusive. This is taxpayer-funded radical gender activism — and the LNP is enabling it.
