Gary Coombes, Candidate for Bayswater

Gary Coombes is Family First’s candidate for Bayswater. A Bayswater resident for 36 years, Gary is a retired electronic technician who understands the value of practical problem-solving, hard work and standing up for his local community.

Gary is standing because he is concerned that children are increasingly being taught radical politically correct ideas rather than the fundamentals they need for a strong future. He believes parents should be respected as the primary educators of their children and that schools should focus on core learning, character and preparing young people for life.

Why Gary Is Standing?

Gary believes local families need a representative who will listen to them and defend their values in Parliament. He is concerned about growing pressure on families, rising living costs, unreliable energy policy and the erosion of freedom of speech and religious belief.

As a long-term Bayswater resident, Gary wants to ensure the voices of ordinary families are heard—not drowned out by political correctness or bureaucratic agendas.

  • Gary’s Priorities for Bayswater: Protecting children and parental rights: Gary opposes teaching gender ideology to children without parental consent and supports age-appropriate, transparent education.
  • Reliable and affordable energy: Gary supports maintaining baseload electricity generation until affordable and reliable alternatives are available, to help reduce power bills and protect local jobs.
Freedom of speech and religion: Gary will stand up for every Victorian’s right to speak freely, hold their beliefs and live according to their conscience.
  • Supporting families: Gary supports policies that put the family and the best interests of children at the centre of public decision-making.
  • A Strong Local Voice: Gary brings decades of practical experience, a strong commitment to his community and a clear determination to defend family values. He believes Bayswater deserves a candidate who will work hard, speak honestly and put local families first.

Gary is asking for your support to send a strong Family First voice to Parliament—one that will stand for children, families, affordable energy and freedom.
