Dianne Colbert, Legislative Council Candidate for Victoria

Dianne Colbert brings decades of frontline mental health experience to her candidacy for Family First in the Victorian Legislative Council.

As founder of Healthy Hearts Healthy Minds, Dianne has dedicated her career to improving the mental health and wellbeing of Australians. Her qualifications span counselling, family therapy, Christian ministry, natural health, and training — including a Principal Master Instructor accreditation in Mental Health First Aid, which she delivered for over a decade.

Dianne's hands-on experience is extensive. She has worked as a Mental Health worker at Psychiatric Rehabilitation Australia, trained Lifeline volunteer telephone counsellors, taught Certificate IV in Mental Health at TAFE, and spent four years supporting highly disadvantaged Centrelink clients. As Children and Mental Health Project Coordinator with the Family Worker Training and Development Programme, she championed the wellbeing of Victoria's most vulnerable families.

Having lost her brother to suicide in 1998, Dianne brings profound personal understanding to the issues of suicide prevention and intervention. She has authored two books on faith-based mental health and a resource supporting survivors of child sexual abuse — work that reflects her conviction that strong families and strong communities begin with whole, healthy people.

Dianne grew up in Ballarat in a large family, and spent nineteen years travelling internationally with a drama and communications ministry before settling in Victoria. Her mission trips to Nepal, Liberia and Indonesia reflect a lifelong heart for service that transcends borders.

A woman of deep faith, Dianne has served in church leadership, pastoral care, and spiritual direction throughout her life.

Family First's values — strong families, genuine compassion, and faith in community — are not just Dianne's politics. They are her life's work.
