Des John, Candidate for Bendigo East

Des John’s family moved to Melbourne from country New South Wales in the early 1970s. His parents’ motivation was to give their children the maximum opportunities for education and future employment and career prospects.

Des and his wife married in 1978, and they have been blessed with six amazing children and 17 grandchildren.

Des joined the Ambulance Service in 1984 and is currently working in the patient transport sector.

Des grew up in a time when Australians enjoyed:

  • Freedom of thought.
  • Freedom of speech.
  • The opportunity to work hard, save money, afford to buy a home, raise a family and enjoy life.
  • A strong love for their country and its history, with Australians generally believing that Australia was the best country in the world in which to live.

However, Des believes that somewhere between then and now, our nation has lost its way by neglecting and completely disregarding the Christian precepts and foundations upon which Victoria and Australia were built.

Des firmly believes that the one and only way back to a healthy state and nation is to reinstate the Bible and Christian precepts as the foundation upon which we build a vibrant and prosperous Victoria and Australia.

It is these deeply held beliefs and convictions that have led Des to stand with Family First, and he is proud to represent the party as its candidate for Bendigo East in the upcoming Victorian election.
