Sri Affandi, Candidate for Vaucluse

A life spent living across different countries and continents has given me a deep and personal understanding of what truly matters — family, values, and the strength of community.

Moving from place to place taught me that no matter how different the world may seem, it is the warmth of family and the values we nurture at home that keep us grounded. That lived experience has only strengthened my conviction that strong families are the foundation of strong communities — and that government must do everything it can to support and protect them.

I believe parents have both the right and the responsibility to pass on the values they hold dear to the next generation. Love, respect, resilience, kindness, and a clear sense of identity are not shaped by policy papers — they are built through everyday moments of care, guidance, sacrifice, and example. Family First understands this, and so do I.

Having experienced many different cultures firsthand, I have seen that while languages and traditions may differ, every thriving community traces its strength back to the family unit. The values children learn at home become their anchor — giving them confidence, character, compassion, and belonging.

Now retired, I am committed to giving back. Through volunteer and community work, I have focused on supporting others, building meaningful connections, and creating genuine social impact. I believe that truly listening to people — understanding their everyday challenges and lived experiences — is how we build communities that care for one another.

Outside of community work, I enjoy cooking, walking, and connecting with people from all walks of life. These simple joys continue to shape my commitment to serving others with empathy, sincerity, and dedication.

As a Family First candidate for the NSW State Election, I stand for a future where families are supported, communities are connected, and every individual is treated with dignity and respect. I believe leadership begins with compassion and service — and I am ready to bring that to Parliament on behalf of the families of NSW.
