Marlene West, Candidate for Melton

Marlene grew up in Tasmania and has 3 adult children and 9 Grandchildren, who all live in different states of Australia. She gained a Bachelor of Nursing in 1996 and after moving to Melbourne worked as a qualified Registered nurse in various hospitals before undertaking a graduate diploma in Mental Health in 2008.

She has since worked for many years in both general and mental health nursing both in Victoria and Queensland. She has studied communication and counselling and has a Certificate of Ministry following 3 years at Charis Bible College on the Gold Coast.

She has attended some Mission trips where she participated in preaching in churches and teaching various groups of people. She is now living back in Melbourne, where she has attended Toastmasters, and she enjoys spending time with family, friends, her pets and her garden. She attends a local church and keeps fit by attending her local gym for Aqua aerobics.  She has also joined a book writing group and is in the process of writing a book.

Marlene has been a follower of Family First for many years, supporting their Christian values and encouraging other Christians to vote for them in the various State and Federal elections we’ve had.

Since returning to Melbourne, Marlene has had a conviction to become more involved in local politics but with work and family commitments, hasn’t been free to follow her convictions until now. She is looking forward to meeting other Family First members and learning more about how Family First can influence the political decisions that are made for our country and individual states, that will guide our nation back to becoming ‘The Great Southland of the Holy spirit’ once again.
