Economic Policy

Core Value ENTERPRISE

Family First believes businesses, small and large, must be allowed to flourish and trade freely so the economy grows, jobs are created and prosperity occurs. Government must play a constructive role in releasing and stewarding the natural resources of the nation for the common good in a manner that is environmentally sustainable. Government has a role to play in curbing the excesses of large corporations.

Family First will seek to ensure a flourishing economy through:

  • Returning key assets such as land and infrastructure back to Australian ownership;
  • Ensuring our natural resources are used for the benefit of our own citizens first;
  • Ensuring the international sales of our natural resources are competitively structured for the benefit of Australians and the funding of our government;
  • Putting state and federal governments on a pathway towards fiscal responsibility by tackling government debt.
  • Reducing the size of government and de-funding unnecessary programs;
  • Encouraging small and family businesses by reducing red and green tape;
  • Increasing the GST reporting threshold;
  • Reducing the small business company tax rate, for Australian owned businesses;
  • Encouraging enterprise by reducing government regulation;
  • Encouraging civil society's "little platoons" so government does only what the community is unable to do. Support the principle of subsidiarity (for more on "subsidiarity", former Deputy Prime Minister John Anderson explains it well in this 15 minute address to the 2023 Alliance for Responsible Citizenship conference in London.);
  • Protecting and encouraging primary production and manufacturing to flourish as the backbone of our country’s wealth by directing investments into these areas;
  • Encouraging new industries and manufacturing into regional areas;
  • Ensuring multinational companies pay their fair share of tax;
  • Review company tax to ensure multinational companies establish operations in Australia, employ Australians and hold accounts locally.
