Family First commends Senator Pauline Hanson for her courageous attempt to restore biological reality to the Sex Discrimination Act (SDA), a principle that aligns with Family Frist’s policies.
Hanson's bill sought to amend the SDA to reflect the inherent truth of biological sex and protect the rights of both men and women.
This is a vital step toward safeguarding the future of our daughters and women across Australia—something that has been neglected since the damaging changes made in 2013 under Julia Gillard’s government.
However, despite Senator Hanson’s efforts, her bill was shut down before it could even be debated.
Labor, the Greens, and other senators shamefully denied the proposal any chance of discussion.
Senator Hanson’s comments on X encapsulate the frustration felt by those who still hold to the biological truth:
“The Greens talk about hatred, but now, through their words today, their hatred of biological women is on display for all to see.”
Hanson further criticised the Labor Party, stating, “If you cannot acknowledge reality, how can you govern a country?”
This refusal to debate demonstrates the increasing intolerance of those who purport to stand for inclusivity.
Greens senator Steph Hodgkins-May, in opposition to the bill, stated, “The Greens will not allow One Nation to use parliamentary privilege to deny the existence of the trans and gender diverse community, will not give Pauline Hanson a platform for hate.”
Liberal Senator Jonathan Duniam rightly pointed out that the bill should at least have been debated.
“While the senate has the opportunity to reject a bill at the first reading stage, in practice it is almost always passed without opposition.”
This reveals the growing trend of certain politicians avoiding debate, especially on issues as critical as protecting biological women.
The dismissal of Senator Hanson’s proposal, as Senator Katy Gallagher said, was because “this bill falls into that category. The division, the hurt, the pain, that that causes for gender-diverse members of the community is real.”
However, what about the pain caused to girls and women when their biological reality is ignored?
Family First commends Senator Hanson for advocating for policies that protect the rights of women and girls.
However, this is something the Coalition should be leading on.
If the Coalition were truly serious about protecting the rights of girls and women, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton would be leading the charge with a national campaign. Such a campaign would undoubtedly resonate with mainstream Australians who see the value in preserving biological reality and safeguarding women's rights.
Instead, the heavy lifting is being left to minor parties like Family First and One Nation, who are standing up for common sense.
