Family First is deeply concerned at anti-Semitism rising in Australia.

The party is pleased to support initiatives like the “Anti-Semitism is Un-Australian” rallies and SA Chair Deepa Mathew is speaking at the Adelaide event on March 3.

The Sydney rally last Sunday attended by 12,000 people in the Domain was well organised and went a long way to redressing our nation's shame after the infamous pro-Hamas Opera House riot on October 9.

The genocidal “from the river to the sea” mantra is pushed by an unholy alliance of the political left and Muslim hate preachers who are inciting violent Jew killing and glorifying “martyrdom” with impunity.

This chant at protests on our streets is a cry for the elimination of the Jewish state which they see as a colonial occupier – a position which demonstrates extreme ignorance of history.

I had breakfast at a kosher cafe this week with the head of the Australian Jewish Association Dr David Adler (pictured below) who has been prominent in the media pointing out that Jewish people no longer feel safe. In Australia.

Dr Adler reminded me of what he has said publicly and that is those calling for the elimination of Jews will not stop with the “Saturday people”, they will come for the “Sunday people”.

The reality is they will also come for all non-Muslims.

This week in the UK, parliamentarians at Westminster dodged a vote on whether there should be a ceasefire in Gaza because MPs feared for their lives if they voted to support Israel.

A baying mob of pro-Hamas supporters was occupying Parliament Square at the time.

The left and far too many Muslims in our communities wrongly think Israel is committing genocide as it wars against the Nazi-like Hamas terrorist organisation.

Of course the loss of civilian life in Gaza is a human tragedy. It would stop tomorrow if Hamas released the hostages, surrendered and de-radicalised but somehow Israel is the villain in our inverted reality world.

Douglas Murray provided much needed perspective in the Spectator this week:

By every measure, what is happening in Gaza is not genocide. More than that – it’s not even regionally remarkable.

Hamas’s own figures – not to be relied upon – suggest that around 28,000 people have been killed in Gaza since October. Most of the international media likes to claim these people are all innocent civilians. In fact, many of the dead will have been killed by the quarter or so Hamas and Islamic Jihad rockets that fall short and land inside Gaza.

Then there are the more than 9,000 Hamas terrorists who have been killed by the Israel Defence Forces. As Lord Roberts of Belgravia recently pointed out, that means there is fewer than a two to one ratio of civilians to terrorists killed: ‘An astonishingly low ratio for modern urban warfare where the terrorists routinely use civilians as human shields.’ Most western armies would dream of such a low civilian casualty count. But because Israel is involved (‘Jews are news’) the libellous hyperbole is everywhere.

The war in Gaza which was provoked by Hamas’ unspeakable atrocities on October 7 is a war for the soul of civilisation. It must be won decisively.

As Paul Kelly pointed out in a powerful article in The Australian this week, the rise of anti-Semitism in Australia is highly dangerous and it is not being taken seriously by the Albanese Government.

Kelly says we no longer comprehend what is happening to our nation. This is scary stuff.

Also of deep concern is the fast-tracking of refugee applications from Gaza to Australia – almost 3000 now have been granted.

While it is good to help people from war zones, we must not important people who support Hamas, something polls show most citizens of Gaza and the West Bank overwhelmingly do.

Hamas is evil, there is no grey.

These are troubling times for Australia and the West. Our social cohesion is under threat from a radical left that has captured our universities and taxpayer-funded institutions like they ABC.

The left’s cultural Marxism, critical theory and identity politics de-legitimises the nation we love and invites radical Muslims who have migrated here to feel the same way about their new home.

The left champions gay rights and while Family First does not agree with it on the definition of marriage in law, the party supports non-discrimination against people based on their sexual identity.

But it is ironic that the left is in cahoots with radical Islam whose nations will throw gay people off buildings.

Leadership is desperately needed to provide moral clarity and to call us together.

Currently there is a vacuum. That is why initiatives like “Anti-Semitism is Un-Australian” are so important.

It is why Family First adds its voice in support of Israel and speaks up for social cohesion by calling out hate and incitement to violence.
