Tennessee law banning child mutilation, puberty blockers & hormones set to be upheld

The US Supreme Court appears poised to uphold Tennessee’s law banning attempted gender-altering treatments for minors, reinforcing the legality of protecting children from mutilating surgeries and chemical interventions.

This landmark case could set a precedent for other nations, including Australia, to prioritise children’s safety over rainbow ideological agendas.

Tennessee’s law, enacted in 2023, prohibits puberty blockers, hormone therapies, and surgeries for minors, ensuring that children are not subjected to irreversible treatments while still developing physically and emotionally.

During oral arguments, Chief Justice John Roberts highlighted the state’s right to regulate such practices, questioning whether these decisions should be left to elected legislatures rather than unelected courts.

Despite the gravity of this case, the ABC’s coverage exemplifies a disappointing bias seen all too often in the mainstream media’s protection of what is shaping to be the biggest medical scandal since Thalidomide.

Its recent report described Tennessee’s law as part of a “wave of anti-transgender legislation sweeping the U.S.” and largely platformed activists opposing the law. Nowhere did the article mention the growing concerns of parents, the medical community, or detransitioners who regret irreversible treatments.

It gave only lip service to other countries moving away from so-called “gender affirming care”.

The ABC also neglected to highlight a critical aspect: this law does not prevent adults from making decisions about their gender but ensures children are protected until they are mature enough to make informed choices.

The omission of such context reflects a worrying disregard for balanced reporting and the voices of those advocating for girls’ and women’s rights.

Family First is calling on Australian politicians to follow Tennessee’s lead. We cannot continue to allow minors to undergo experimental treatments without understanding the long-term consequences.

Australia must act now to ensure our laws reflect the importance of safeguarding children and respecting the integrity of biological reality in women’s spaces.
