Urgent: Make some noise against the harmful ‘Equality’ Bill

The NSW Parliament is set to begin debating the so-called ‘equality’ bill, authored by Independent MP Alex Greenwich, when it resumes in a fortnight.
This bill, which seeks to amend 20 different pieces of NSW legislation, poses significant threat to religious freedom, parental rights, and the safety and dignity of women and children.

A petition has been established to let NSW Parliamentarians know about the public opposition to it. Family First urges all NSW residents to sign the petition and contact their local member of Parliament.

Tell your member of Parliament that you will be voting for Family First at the 2027 NSW State election because all NSW politicians either support the bill or are too afraid to campaign publicly against it.

Family First stands firmly against this dangerous legislation and pledges to work tirelessly to repeal it if elected to parliament.

Archbishop of Sydney Anthony Fisher has rightly highlighted the dangers inherent in this bill. The five key proposed changes are deeply concerning:

  1. Removal of Religious Protections: The bill aims to strip away existing protections for religious freedom in our anti-discrimination laws, allowing discrimination against individuals based on their religious beliefs or affiliations. This undermines the fundamental right to religious liberty.
  2. Soliciting Prostitution Near Schools and Churches: Alarmingly, the bill permits individuals to advertise and solicit for prostitution outside places of worship and educational institutions. This endangers the safety and sanctity of these spaces.

  3. Simplified Sex Change Procedures: The bill would permit individuals to change their sex on their birth certificate by simply filling out a form, bypassing any medical or psychological assessment. This trivializes a significant and complex personal decision.
  4. Expansion of Surrogacy Laws: By expanding surrogacy laws, the bill opens the door to the exploitation and trafficking of women and children, particularly in poorer countries. This move risks turning the most vulnerable into commodities.
  5. Parental Rights in Medical Decisions: The bill seeks to remove parents from crucial medical decision-making processes for their children. This undermines the family unit and parents' ability to act in the best interests of their children.

Despite an overwhelming 85% of NSW residents rejecting the bill during a parliamentary inquiry, the government has yet to indicate its opposition.
