Education Policy

Core Value FREEDOM

Family First believes that quality education is a foundational core in a healthy functioning society as it develops critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills.

Family First believes parents are the primary educators of their children and should be supported by the education system to teach their children in a manner consistent with their world view.

Family First will:

  • Support parents freedom of choice to educate their children in either quality state school education or private education (which includes faith-based education and homeschooling);
  • Review the national curriculum to return to an emphasis on real knowledge of the basics particularly reading, writing, arithmetic, history, thinking skills and logic;
  • Restore the primacy of Western Civilization, the Australian achievement and a free democracy into the Curriculum;
  • Add real world financial literacy to the curriculum for all students;
  • Eliminate the positive framing of critical race theory from all aspects of the Curriculum;
  • Protect children from gender queer theory and harmful LGBTQA+ gender fluid ideology by removing such material from all school and early childhood curriculum.
  • Support student welfare by supporting school chaplaincy;
  • Restore parents' rights by making it an offence for teachers or social workers to hide anything from parents, including their child’s desire to change gender, as is encouraged by education departments around the country;
  • Stop government abuse of power by removing the broad “loco parentis” powers from education departments. Instead grant very limited and defined authority so that schools cannot override a parent’s values and worldview;
  • Encourage faith-based schools to flourish and ensure they are free to practice according to their ethos, including employing staff whose values align with the schools values;
  • Allow greater freedom at a local school level to make certain curriculum decisions in line with students needs, with the expectation that content will be age and ability appropriate.
