Family First to appeal VEC de-registration decision

Family First will appeal the Victorian Electoral Commission’s decision to de-register it in that state.

National Director Lyle Shelton said the party had provided evidence to the VEC it had more than enough members to comply with the Electoral Act and would demonstrate this to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

Mr Shelton said the VEC’s decision did not affect the party’s current operations in Victoria where campaigning to have Bernie Finn elected to the Senate at the next federal election was underway in earnest.

“We are thrilled with the momentum from lower house candidates, volunteers and donors that is building under the leadership of State Chair Jane Foreman for Bernie’s Senate campaign,” Mr Shelton said.
