Housing Policy

Core Value ENTERPRISE

For families to flourish they must be able to secure the Australian dream of home ownership. The economy must be restructured so a young family can raise children, own a home and achieve a comfortable living on one wage, if they so choose.

Family First will work to ensure the Australian dream can become a reality by:

  • Releasing more land for housing construction;
  • Reducing the red and green tape which significantly increases housing costs;
  • Working with State Governments and Local Councils, remove unnecessary and excessive compliance requirements on all new homes;
  • Supporting modular housing;
  • Extending the first home buyers grant to existing houses;
  • Modifying the Pension Assets & Income test to allow pensioners to sell their family home and downsize without financial penalty, thereby freeing up homes for younger families;
  • Banning any further foreign ownership of Australian land or houses, where the privilege isn’t reciprocated, including by entities with over 50% foreign ownership;
  • Significantly reducing immigration to a manageable intake so that housing supply and infrastructure can be stabilised.
