Family First has made its first inroad into Western Sydney with young local dad Nathan Athavle standing for Fairfield City Council.

The father of two is a sales manager in a local business and is passionate about enhancing Western Sydney’s family friendly amenity.

“We appreciate so many of the values in Australia and I think over the last few years everyone is noticing that some of those values are dwindling away,” Nathan said.

“And so if not us, someone has to stand up for these values and so we, we figured we'd give it a go.”

Nathan cited concern with children being indoctrinated into gender fluid ideology at school, religious freedom and cost of living as key issues.

He will be watching Council expenditure closely and has ruled out voting for rate increases.

Family First National Director Lyle Shelton said the party looked forward to continuing to serve the people of Western Sydney in future elections and support their aspirations for family, freedom, faith and life.
