Poverty and Justice Policy

Core Value FAMILY

Family First believes that protecting the family means reducing the societal risks to all members of families.

Family first will seek to encourage peace and prosperity in the following ways:

Children

  • Adopt a ‘them before us’ approach to local and international adoption, foster care and all other support as provided via government, community and not for profit organisations. Prioritising children’s needs over adult wants.

Women

  • Introduce the successful Nordic model of prostitution which criminalises the buyer and pimps of sex, not the prostitute;
  • Introduce harsh penalties for sex trafficking;
  • Make it an offence to exploit a woman (or man) to produce pornography;
  • Introduce laws protecting women (and men) against AI generated porn;

 Drugs

  • Enforce the laws on drug supply and possession;
  • Never give up on the fight to keep Australia free of illicit drugs;
  • Divert people to successful programs which help them actually get free of their addictions;
  • Weight the criminal justice system for young people towards compulsory attendance at rehabilitation programs, rather than prison for first offences.
  • Close drug injecting centres;

 Poverty

  • Ensure a generous safety net for the poor always with a view to lifting people from poverty.
  • Phase out poker machines by diverting revenue during the phase-out period into an industry adjustment fund;
  • If a phase out of poker machines can’t be achieved, support the cashless gaming card;
  • Gather the homeless from the streets each night into a communal shelter where they are connected to services committed to settling them in long-term secure housing;
  • Amend state and council laws to allow use of appropriate church and community facilities for homeless.
  • Allow caravans, cabins and tiny homes on private properties Australia wide.
