Family First has called on the Albanese Government to lodge a protest with the International Olympic Committee over its inappropriate opening ceremony.

NSW and Victorian Senate candidates Lyle Shelton and Bernie Finn said the Olympics was not a place for parodying women, sexualising children and disrespecting one of the world’s great religions.

“Men dressing up as hyper-sexualised women, a child at a table of sexualised transgender people and a blasphemous Christ-like figure have no place at an Olympics opening ceremony.

“This is not art, it is the propaganda of radical elites.

“The ceremony was insulting to women, harmful to children and blasphemous of Christianity.

“Imagine if Islam was parodied in this way. Paris would be burning right now.

“Our cultural elites are trying to erase womanhood, sexualise children and destroy Christianity.

“The Olympics has always been an event families could watch together but this year’s event has smashed that tradition.

“It’s a far cry from Nikki Webster at the opening of the Sydney games in 2000.”

Mr Finn and Mr Shelton said the Government and the Australian Olympic Committee should lodge protests on behalf of the Australian people and make sure this never happens again.
