Katie Lush to Lead Family First’s Queensland Senate Ticket

MEDIA RELEASE

Family First is proud to announce Katie Lush as its lead Senate candidate for Queensland at the upcoming federal election.

Katie is a Darling Downs librarian, lawyer, teacher, mother, and grandmother who understands that families are the cornerstone of society and require strong advocates to secure their future.

Katie stands behind Family First’s commitment to defending the rights of faith-based schools. She is passionate about protecting Christian education, and ensuring children are safe from harmful ideologies.

“It’s crucial that faith-based schools have the freedom to employ staff who align with their beliefs and values,” she said.

“Religious freedom is fundamental to a free society, and Family First will ensure that faith-based schools retain their right to uphold their ethos.”

Katie is also a passionate advocate for addressing cost-of-living pressures which particularly impact young people who want to start a family.

“Families are in a cost-of-living crisis, and one of the biggest drivers is unaffordable electricity,” Katie said.

“Family First will fight to bring back affordable, reliable energy for all Australians. Current net zero policies are crippling our families and businesses, and it’s time to stand up for common-sense energy solutions.”

On the protection of children, Katie was clear: “Radical gender fluid ideology is harming young people across Australia. Family First will campaign to ensure that children are protected from these harmful programs and practices, and we’ll put the best interests of the child at the heart of public policy.”

For over two decades, Katie focused full-time on raising her six children while volunteering in her local church, sporting clubs, and community associations.

In 2021, she was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland as a lawyer and now works at a Christian school, where she sees firsthand the growing ideological challenges facing mums and dads.

Katie Lush is calling for your support to help give families a voice in Canberra. Her campaign will focus on cutting the cost of living, protecting parental rights, and standing up for common-sense policies that strengthen Australian families.
