Welcome Elizabeth Kikkert

Welcome Elizabeth Kikkert

Sadly the Liberals have expelled yet another strong conservative woman.

Family First is delighted to welcome Elizabeth Kikkert, member for Ginninderra in the ACT Legislative Assembly, as its first member of parliament since 2017.

At the start of Family First’s ACT election campaign, our goal was to stand up for families, get the party on the ballot and give people a real choice for their vote.

Our expectations and goals were no higher than that. I’m excited to be able to tell you that everything has changed in the last few days and so must our strategy.

Getting Elizabeth re-elected is now your party’s top priority between now and the October 19 election.

I know all members and supporters will join me in welcoming Elizabeth to the Family First family. - Lyle Shelton, National Director

Statement from Elizabeth Kikkert on joining the Family First Party

Over the course of my life and political career I have always stood up for families.

The value families provide our society is difficult to over state.

Today I announce that I have joined Family First. This is a continuation of my work. My values have not changed one bit.

My work will not change. Rather, I have found a political party that I am proud to be a member of and that shares my values and my determination to fight for families and the freedoms we hold dear.

As a proud candidate running for Family First, I am deeply committed to prioritising the needs and well-being of families in our community.

Throughout my life and work, I have witnessed the challenges that families face—whether it's the cost of living pressures,  accessing quality healthcare, ensuring a quality education for all our children, or creating safe and supportive environments.

As a mum of five, I know how hard it is for the families in my electorate who suffer under cost of living pressures to see the big partys promise billions for stadiums and trams all on the back of tripling household rates.

My commitment is to address these issues head-on, advocating for policies that will uplift and strengthen families. I look forward to continuing to support and be a voice for families and for people in Ginninderra.
